‘Little Hands’ Garden

This space was originally an overgrown mess of pachysandra and a birch tree that was too close to the house. We cut down the tree and dug up all the pachysandra to make this little space of joy, including a Kid’s Exploring garden. This is an annual garden that grows herbs and salads. The small raised bed is perfect for kids ton reach in for sensory exploration and experiencing the lifecycle of butterflies.

The old space by the side of the house was centered around a young birch tree that was too close to the house for structural safety. We removed the tree, dug the stump out and then created a mulched garden space edged by leftover paver blocks the client had. This space was intended to be a learning garden and for the kids as well as a functional kitchen garden. So, we sourced metal raised metal beds that the client built, creating a herb garden space as well as a little space for their kids to explore sensorially.
