From Within A State of Confusion
Life in Italy has been interesting! Last night, we had a small dinner gathering; four of us, from Istanbul, New York, London and Paris, who have been living here in Italy for different periods. Inevitably the conversation turned to a discussion of the very different outlooks here compared to where we all come from respectively. While many things may be ambiguous, one thing is very certain - food here is ah-mazing!!! It rocks my socks off everyday and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of the regional Italian food.
And, in that spirit, today's recipe is one of my favorites. One I remembered today because today is market day and this was made on the last weekend market day I spent in NYC in September! :)

Home and Homemade Granola
After I came back from the latest trip, wretched and tired, last evening, all I wanted was to feel at home. The first thing I did, even before unpacking, this morning, is turn on the oven, toss a big bowl of oats with nuts and honey and let her bake while I pottered about cleaning and setting things in the right place. In 20 minutes, I had my world to myself as I sat happy on the kitchen table with the latest New Yorker, my bowl of fresh, warm granola, drenched in fresh almond milk that I also made ten minutes prior and a short espresso.
I am back on the road in three days, but until then, I will enjoy this feeling of being just where I am, safe and happy :)

Solid Swirls
The gorgeous swirls of a shell. Recently when I was in Florida, I thought I should collect shells from the beach, but I didn't. Actually, in the all the time, I grew up in a coastal city, never once have I had the urge to collect shells! Hmm.. Odd isn't it? Nevertheless, whenever I do see these swirled shells in my fish shop, I have irresistible urge to devour them!
The first time I tasted escargots was well, NOT in France. Many a Parisian bistro, I have passed but I have actually never eaten these typically buttered buggers there despite knowing it to be their delicacy. I actually tasted them in... err. NYC {ok, kill me now!}.

Changing a Lifestyle
I need your Help! What do you do?
Those of you who are paleo, grain free, gluten intolerant, what do you do, when carrying lunch is not an option and are stuck finding lunch while on the move?

Is it Healthy?
Now, the choice between healthy and desire is a tough one. As anyone who has tried any form of change can attest to... I just needed to find a bridge.
That is when I appreciated the singular merit I see in smoothie bowls - The convenience of combining my two breakfasts into one delivery! It broke no convenience limits because I always ate the granola in a bowl and I certainly didn't bother with artistic presentation of additional fruits. This was perfect!
